The AMIGA project partner Teagasc will participate in the ESOF 2012 in Dublin and take part in the exhibition hall with a stand dedicated to raise visibility on its ongoing projects and activities, among which AMIGA. During the exhibition, Teagasc will have the opportunity to present the latest developments of the project and network with interested stakeholders.
On Friday 13 July, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science will meet Teagasc staff Eric Donald, Head, Public Relations; Stuart Green, Research Officer, Ashtown and Ewen Mullins, Research Officer, at the Teagasc Stand.
Teagasc, the Agriculture and Food Development Authority in Ireland, will show some of its science and technology achievements, as well as discussing with the visitors about their involvement in the AMIGA project, providing information and presentations about the project and its ongoing activities.
As the leading agri-food research organisation, Teagasc is one of the sponsors of Dublin City of Science 2012, and the organisator of a major programme of scientific events during the year supporting the City of Science programme.
On Friday 13 July, Teagasc and the EU Joint Programme Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCEJPI) organises a dedicated session on “The Great Debate on the Battle to Feed a Changing Planet”, aiming to address the questions regarding the world’s future food security in the face of climate change. The session will be a highly interactive discussion with live tweets and feedback from the participants.
The Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF), held in the Convention Centre Dublin from 11-15 July 2012, is the centre-piece of the year-long series of science-linked events named Dublin City of Science 2012 aiming at showcasing the latest advances in science and technology, promoting a dialogue on the role of science and technology in society and stimulating public interest about science and technology.
The event will bring together over 5,000 scientists, business leaders, government officials and international media to discuss the best of European science and to address all the major global challenges, including Energy, Climate Change, Food and Health.
