Every year the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University organises a joint meeting at the campus in Jyland, called Foulum Research Centre. On the 8th June a two- hour poster session was held to give all the teams some space to introduce their projects and showcase their research achievements.
Senior Scientist Gabor L. Lövei, Ph.D., DSc, lead the GMO Team presenting AMIGA project and gave an overview of the activities and the project’s research work in which Aarhus University as a partner is involved. The session was a good opportunity to get visibility and collect useful contacts in the area of ecosystem services, as well as a good networking occasion.
In the AMIGA framework, the Aarhus University’s main task is to lead the work package 2 (Biogeographic regions and protection goals), where its role is the establishment of baselines and ecosystem service assessment in various European regions. The team of scientists involved in AMIGA will also help the consortium to elucidate how things stand at present with regard to fauna and flora in various European regions, synthesize the protection goals of the various countries, and assess the importance of various ecosystem services. Another important aim is to develop reliable but simple monitoring procedures to check for unintended environmental effects.
